About Intakez
Intakez is a small piece of software for the home inspector who sells the pre-purchase inspection and writes its report. The inspector working alone, the owner of a two-truck firm, the second inspector who joined last spring: it is built for the job they already do with a paper checklist, a phone full of photos and a word processor at night, and it keeps the record they cannot find when a client calls two years later.
Why this site exists
This site exists because the inspections most one-truck firms do live in a camera roll that has the photos, a paper checklist in the truck that has the ticks, and a report written from memory that night that has neither. When the buyer's lawyer writes eighteen months later about the furnace, none of those answers the letter. Intakez takes the findings in on site against the system they belong to, totals the report from them, and keeps the inspection filed against the property, and gives away the worksheets that cost the kit and the software around it.
Who it is for
The home inspector who sells the pre-purchase inspection and writes its report: working alone or in a firm of a handful of inspectors, a few inspections a week to a few a day, with nobody whose job is the paperwork.
Not the home buyer who ordered the inspection, not a person becoming an inspector, not a property manager writing a condition report, and not a mold, termite, sewer or wind-mitigation specialist. Those are different people with different documents.
What it does not do
- No inspection and no certification: Intakez keeps the record of what you inspected and reported, and never signs for it
- No standard of practice of its own: the checklist follows the published standards the pages cite, and what a state requires is read at the state's own form
- No vendor price we did not read on the day: every competitor figure names its pricing page and the date it was read
- No lead selling and no agent marketing: nobody pays to be named on this site and no enquiry is passed on

What Intakez Pro keeps
Upgrading turns the worksheet into the record. The checklist you walked becomes an inspection with its defects and safety items counted; the report you wrote becomes a document filed against the property and the client with the date it went out; the kit you costed becomes the list of instruments your readings came from. Nothing is retyped: what the worksheet computed is what the record keeps.
